The City of Derby is pleased to announce the grand opening of the ballfields at Decarsky Park on Friday, May 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. Located at 1600 Line Drive (Rock Road at the south city limit), Decarsky Park features four ballfields, two batting cages, concession stand, picnic shelter and a dog park that opened in October 2020.
Tours will be offered from 4 to 5:30 p.m. followed by a brief program at 5:30 p.m. From 6 to 8 p.m., there will be a scrimmage of 12U baseball and open tours of the park. Please bring a non-perishable food item for the Derby Food Pantry. Concessions will be available for purchase.
“We are excited to invite you to see Derby’s newest ballpark,” said Randy White, Mayor. “This park is a collaborative effort between our residents who approved the Derby Difference Sales Tax, the Derby Recreation Commission, and the city Parks and Public Works staff.”
While pets are not allowed in the ballfield area, the dog park is open during the event.
Media inquiries should be directed to Mykalynn Penny, Marketing Director for the Derby Recreation Commission, at 788-3781 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Severe weather will cancel the event.
