Utility Fund Assistance Program

The City of Derby Utility Fund Assistance Program is aimed at helping residents in the community who may be experiencing financial difficulties in paying their utility bills.

Through this program, City water customers will be able to make voluntary donations on their water bills to help fellow Derby residents who may be in need.

Water customers have the option to add extra money to their water bills as a one-time donation if they pay in person at City Hall, via mail or in the drop box at City Hall.

If customers pay via ACH (auto draft payments) or online, they can submit a donation form and indicate a monthly donation amount. Customers will also have the option to round up each month’s bill to the next dollar amount or specify a set amount to be added to each month’s bill. Fill out the form at https://bit.ly/voluntarydonation

If you want to stop your donation at any time, you can fill out the same form.

Donated funds will be provided to Derby Community Family Services (DCFS) to distribute to those in need. DCFS is a mission outreach program administered by Woodlawn United Methodist Church and supported by organizations and individuals throughout the community.

DCFS will administer the program to determine eligibility and amount of assistance for residents. DCFS already assists Derby residents who may be having financial difficulties with their bills, so this new program is an extension of those services and allows a direct way for residents to help through the City. In 2023, DCFS helped 38 Derby families and paid out a total of $6,355 for Derby water customers.
