Register to Vote

Before you vote, make sure you are a registered to vote on the Sedgwick County Election website. The deadline to register to vote is 21 days prior to the election. For the November election you must register by October 17, 2023. 

Remember, you must re-register when you change your name, address or party affiliation for voting.

How to Vote

Mail in Your Ballot

  • Register for a mail in ballot at least 21 days prior to the election (Oct 17, 2023).
  • Advanced ballots begin mailing October 18, 2023
  • To be counted, your ballot must be returned to the Election Office, a community located drop box (there is one located outside the Derby Public Library), or a box inside a polling place by 7 p.m. on Election Day, or postmarked by Election Day and received no later than the third day following the election. In most cases this is the Friday after a Tuesday election.

Skip the Lines, Vote Early:

  • Early in person voting begins at the Election office October 23, 2023 at 8 a.m.
  • Early voting at Satellite sites begins November 2, 2023 at noon
  • Early voting at Satellite sites ends November 4, 2023 at 4 p.m.
  • Early voting at Election office ends November 6, 2023 at 12 p.m.

General Election: Nov. 7

The General election is November 7, 2023. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

What do you need to bring with you to vote: 

Must have a non-expired Photo ID. Acceptable forms of photo ID include:

  • A driver’s license or nondriver’s identification card issued by Kansas or by another state or district of the United States
  • A concealed carry of handgun license issued by Kansas or a concealed carry of handgun or weapon license issued by another state or district of the United States
  • A United States passport
  • An employee badge or identification document issued by a municipal, county, state, or federal government office
  • A military identification document issued by the United States
  • A student identification card issued by an accredited postsecondary institution of education in the state of Kansas
  • A public assistance identification card issued by a municipal, county, state or federal government office
  • An identification card issued by an Indian tribe
