The City of Derby has emergency management procedures in place to assess, evaluate, and respond to emergency situations of any type.
There are four main aspects to Derby’s emergency management philosophy.
- Mitigation - Preventing or reducing the impact of possible events. Reduce exposure of citizens to disaster.
- Preparedness - Identifying hazards and preparing plans for particular hazards.
- Response - Hands-on response to the emergency event. Mobilizing and coordinating departments to support response.
- Recovery - Help insure the orderly return to normal, near-normal, or improved levels following a disaster.
The City of Derby maintains an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and works closely with Sedgwick County Emergency Management in preparing and responding to emergency situations. If you have questions about the Derby Emergency Operations plan, contact Kiel Mangus, Deputy City Manager at 316-788-3132 or by email.
