Parks
Derby is well-known for its extensive parks system. Our parks staff manages more than 500 acres of parkland, 20 developed parks and 14 green spaces, including playground structures and a variety of equipment and landscaping.
Decarsky Park, Derby's newest park, features a dog park and four softball/youth baseball diamonds. Located off south Rock Road, the park has a planned second phase that will be built down the road that includes four more baseball diamonds and other amenities.
High Park, home to the Smoke on the Plains BBQ and Music Fest, July 4 fireworks, and many softball and soccer games, sits on the east side of Derby. The park has a fishing pond, amphitheater, sand volleyball, two playgrounds and an indoor and outdoor shelter.
Madison Avenue Central Park has an all-inclusive playground, splash pad, walking paths, two event spaces, amphitheater and an event lawn. It's home to the Kansas Grown Farmers Market from April to October, Third Thursday event, Christmas in the Park, the Tree Lighting and more.
Warren Riverview Park sits on the Arkansas River on the west side of Derby. A former public works yard transformed into recreational space, this is a park for adventurers. Enjoy scenic views of the river, kayak/canoe access to the water, covered shelter, 15-foot ropes course and a fire pit and area for groups like Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The Lodge meeting space overlooks the river as well.
