Municipal Court

Based on new information and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Kansas Supreme Court, municipal court has canceled regular court sessions through April 9, 2020.  Cases scheduled for appearance on or before April 9th will be continued to a later date.

Staff is working to notify those with a current address and phone number on file of their next scheduled appearance. If you have not received a notice, please call the court clerk's office for instructions. In some circumstances, appearances may be handled over the phone without appearing in person. Anyone with questions regarding their appearance should call the clerk's office at 316-788-1511.

Anyone scheduled to report for probation or diversion before April 16, 2020 is directed to report by phone by calling 316-788-1511.

Clerk staff remains available during regular office hours for all other court business.

The Derby Municipal Court is dedicated to providing fair, efficient, professional, and effective disposition of all matters within its jurisdiction. The Municipal Court has jurisdiction of violations of city ordinances for traffic cases and other types of cases, such as fire code, property violations, and other misdemeanor criminal matters. All other more serious criminal matters are handled through the District Court.

  • Derby Municipal Court is held every Thursday.
  • Arraignments begin at 9 a.m.
  • Video arraignments begin at 1:00 p.m.
  • Trials and all other matters begin at 2 p.m.
  • Municipal Court citations can be paid online.

Wednesday, November 11th - Veterans Day
Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th - Thanksgiving
Thursday, December 24th and Friday, December 25th - Christmas
