Christmas Tree Recycling
Dec. 20-Jan. 23
Drop off your undecorated Christmas tree. Free mulch is available to Derby residents. 
Thank you to Sedgwick County for providing the mulching service for the trees. 

Winter Hours: Nov. - March
Mon., Wed. and Fri. from 7:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
First Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon

The Chip Site is a service offered to those who live inside the Derby city limits only. Be prepared to show proof of address. If you have a Derby address but live outside of the city limits, you are not allowed to use the site.

Free mulch is available for use by those who live inside the Derby city limits. Mulch may be picked up during regular operating hours.

What's allowed
  • Tree trunks / limbs up to 10 inches in diameter. 
What's not allowed:
  • Grass clippings, leaves, and thorny brush.
  • Trees
  • Trash
Please do not dump limbs when the Chip Site is closed. And remember, this is not a dump site for unwanted items, the city only accepts tree limbs.

The Chip Site is closed on Saturdays when large events are held at the park (Derby BBQ Festival, July 4) or when city offices are closed for holidays on a Friday or Monday.

Tree Recycle
During the holiday season, the city offers recycling for Christmas trees. This event generally begins the week of Christmas and lasts through the second week of January.
