The City of Derby’s first dog park, Decarsky Dog Park, opens to the public on Friday, Oct. 16. The park is located at 1600 Line Dr. between Chet Smith/87th St. and 95th St. on south Rock Road. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset with a closure on Monday mornings for maintenance.

“This park has been in the works for many years, and we are ecstatic to open the gates to welcome our four-legged friends.” Randy White, Mayor.

The park was funded by the Derby Difference Sales Tax and property taxes.

What you can expect at the three-acre park:

  • Two fenced yards - one for large dogs and one for small dogs
  • Fenced agility course with six obstacles
  • Pond with dock for retrieval training (dogs only)
  • Shade structures/benches
  • Water bubblers
  • Wash station
  • Parking
  • Restrooms
  • ADA accessible

The park is named in honor of Tomp & Vicki Decarsky, who donated 63 acres of land for the park and whose foundation provided partial funding for some of the play features in the park.

Decarsky Park also features a ballfield complex scheduled to open in 2021.
