City Employees Participate in No Shave November to Support Derby Operation Holiday

No Shave November

The Derby Police Department along with other city employees will participate in “No Shave November” from November 7 to December 7. This is a fundraising event for Derby Operation Holiday, which provides food and toys to those in need who live in the Derby Public School district.

All Derby Police Department members (and city employees), including those in uniform, can participate by contributing $20 each to Operation Holiday. For this donation they are entitled to the following options during the time frame:

  • Forgo shaving
  • Wear summer uniform
  • Wear jeans every day (civilian employees)

“We have almost 30 employees who have signed up to participate, including employees from other city departments,” said Robert Lee, Police Chief. “No Shave November is for a great cause, especially during the holiday season.”

As you are out and about you may notice that some officers’ appearance is a bit different, remember that they can grow their facial hair during this time. We encourage you to join us and support Derby Operation Holiday by giving food, toys or your time. Learn more at
