Derby Police, Fire Youth Open House Set for May 19

Derby police officers and firefighters invite youth and their families to the[KM1] annual Youth Open House on Sunday, May 19 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Derby Police Department, 229 N. Baltimore. This is an ideal event for those ages 10 and under.

“This event is a great opportunity for the youth of Derby to interact with police officers and firefighters,” said Robert Lee, Police Chief. “We encourage families to tour our buildings and check out our equipment and vehicles.”

The event will include tours of the police department and Fire Station #81, touch a truck with police and fire vehicles/equipment, and a chance to talk with Derby police officers and firefighters to learn about law enforcement, firefighting and emergency medical rescue. There will also be a bicycle rodeo. If your children have a bike and helmet, please bring them.

Special guests will include McGruff the Crime Dog, Daren the Lion, Sparky the Fire Dog and Pluggie the Fire Hydrant. Snacks and drinks will be provided by Derby Walmart.
