Derby Fire & Rescue Seeking Volunteers Who Like to Paint

fire hydrant

The City of Derby is looking for volunteers who have a desire to help spruce up the city. Derby Fire & Rescue is recruiting volunteers interested in painting the city’s fire hydrants. Did you know we maintain more than 1,200 hydrants?

Interested volunteers should call Fire Station 82 at 788-5819 to schedule a date and time. The city will provide the supplies and instructions.

“While faded paint on a hydrant does not cause deterioration, freshly painted hydrants stand out making them easier to locate in case of an emergency,” said Brad Smith, Fire Chief. “We appreciate any assistance you as an individual, church group or civic group can provide.”
