Derby Fire & Rescue Public Art Initiative

A city’s architecture, public art, and landscaping reflect its values. Visitors to Derby often comment on its beautiful green spaces, and recently Madison Avenue Central Park has become an impressive addition to the local landscape.

A new Fire Station 81 will be constructed in 2018 at the corner of Madison & Woodlawn, including an original life-size bronze of running firefighters sculpted by Derby artist John Parsons (pictured here). The sculpture will be in front of a “wall of fire” light feature and surrounded by lovely landscaping to further the growing beauty of Madison Avenue and solidify this core area of Derby as the heart of the city.

Donations are being taken to help fund the City of Derby’s effort to honor the many firefighters and their families who have served the community for decades.Donations of $100 or greater will be honored with a commemorative T-shirt (pictured here).
